Why think about 2050?

The future is important to us all.

We often plan for it in our everyday lives.  It is especially important for the younger generations who have a bigger stake in the future than others.  This is why it is necessary to think about the future, to ensure that we know and understand the impact that a decision made today will have on tomorrow.

In many significant decision making processes, the year 2050 is an iconic milestone. At the United Nations, 2050 is talked about in the context of “long-term co-operative action”; country governments make laws relating to2050 (such as the UK Climate Change Act); and for most of us, 2050 is really just on the horizon.

In order to safeguard our future, talking about
2050 must be coupled with clear and compassionate thinking about how the generations can collaborate with one another.

Most of us have good intentions to do the best for our friends and family: to give our children the best in life, and to keep our grandparents safe.
Think2050 helps to encourage people to firstly think about these good intentions, and to translate them into real and meaningful actions that will help us to create the best future for us all.
